Overview

The Ribbon Session Border Controller 1000 (SBC 1000) is an ideal security and interoperability solution for small businesses and branch offices. The SBC 1000 delivers:

• VoIP Security (topology hiding, encryption, protection against Denial of Service attacks, and more)
• Interoperability with leading PBXs, cloud UC services, cloud contact centers, SIP endpoints, and SIP trunking providers
• Certified for Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, Zoom Phone BYOC, Webex Local Gateway & Google Voice SIP Link
• Local site survivability services, including Microsoft SBA
• Gateway for traditional interfaces including analog devices, analog lines, BRI, and PRI
• Advanced call routing features such as Active Directory/LDAP server routing integration and onboard call forking

The SBC 1000 is the smallest member of Ribbon’s SBC family but don’t let its diminutive size fool you. It uses the same powerful software deployed in larger models and cloud-based offers. That’s one reason the SBC 1000 has been independently verified to deliver complete protection and performance during severe security attacks. The SBC 1000 is ideal for organizations seeking to protect SIP trunks or cloud UC services, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom Phone. It also provides tools and physical interfaces to ease migrations from legacy PBXs and key systems. Organizations that need to connect traditional analog phones (such as cordless phones, elevator phones, door phones, fax machines, etc.) or want to connect local phone lines (for local dial tone or emergency/ fail-over calling) will appreciate the SBC 1000’s FXO/FXS ports.

The SBC 1000’s intuitive web interface, including multiple ready-to-use configuration parameters, makes it easy for small businesses and branch offices to get in-service; no Ph.D. in SBC is required. License-based sessions and port expansion eliminate the need for a truck roll and/or an on-site technician.
The Ribbon SBC 1000 is certified for Direct Routing with Microsoft Teams, Zoom Phone BYOC, Cisco Webex Local Gateway, Google Voice SIP Link, and has been deployed with nearly every popular cloud service or premises-based communications equipment. It also features built-in survivability for Microsoft Teams, Yealink, Poly, Cisco/BroadSoft, and other SIP/TDM/FXx clients, so calls go through even if the Wide Area Network (WAN) goes down.

Hardware, Software or Cloud

Visitors may notice the similarities between the SBC SWe Edge, SBC 1000, and SBC 2000, we hope so. Ribbon uses the same core software for these products so our customers can easily choose the size and deployment model that fits their environment. Each product delivers the same robust security services, ease of deployment, and media management capabilities. The SBC SWe Edge includes the option to deploy on a virtualized platform or the cloud, while the SBC 1000 and Edge 8300 and Edge 8500 provide options for physical interfaces (FXO/FWs, T1/E1, etc.) for device or PBX/ contact center migrations. The SBC SWe Edge also offers the option to be deployed in redundant pairs for high availability.
